Mr. Beck holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University.


1978 to present: Owner of Penosa Bloodstock, an equine bloodstock agency and consulting firm. Activities include brokering and consulting in all phases of the horse industry from facility design and operations management to marketing, contract negotiations and financial and tax management.


Services also include acting as an expert witness and consultant to counsel in areas such as contracts, appraisals, management practices, training, liability, customs of the industry, profit motive, tax treatment of expenses and financial dealings in general.


Clients have included the U.S. Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, Bank of America (California), First Interstate Bank (Arizona), The Rhulen Agency (Insurance), Monticello, NY, the Egyptian Agricultural Organization (El Zahraa Stud Cairo, Egypt), Al Badeia Farm (Cairo, Egypt), Wayne Newton Arabians (Logandale, NV), Lavely & Singer, Attorneys (Los Angeles) and Heidelberg & Associates, equine appraisers (Blanchard, OK).


1971 to 2000; Owner, Penosa Ranch, a 70 acre equine breeding facility which managed, bred, trained and showed or raced, and marketed Arabian and Thoroughbred horses. He trained Arabians for Halter and Performance and gave instruction in English and Western Riding and Dressage


1981 to 1984: Co-founder, officer and director of Desert Arabian Bloodstock, Inc., the first publicly owned corporation dealing with the breeding, marketing and management of Straight Egyptian Arabian horses in the United States. Initial public offering was for $4.125 million.


1967 to 1971: Manager, the Horse Improvement Program, Texas Department of Corrections, a 200 head horse breeding facility.


​Mr. Beck was a Registered Judge in the American Horse Shows Association and the International Arabian Horse Association from 1973 to 1985 judging Arabians, American Saddlebred Horses, Tennessee Walking Horses, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds and Morgans.


He authored: "A Very Short Course in Equine Genetics", © 1978 by the author, "Conformation: Ideals, Theory and Observations", with Richard Rudish, copyrighted by the authors, and numerous articles and editorials appearing from 1971 through 1975 in the Arabian Horse News and the Arabian Horse Journal. He also wrote a preface to BASIC HORSEMANSHIP, English and Western, by Eleanor F. Prince and Gaydell M. Collier, Doubleday & Company, N.Y., 1974.


Through I-Tex Publishing Company as President and co-founder, he published between (1969 to 1990):  The Raswan Index, a three volume reference on Arabian horses, limited edition, 1969; The Arab and His Horse, 3rd Edition, 1970; Every Horse Owners Cyclopedia, 1971; The Raswan Index Abridged, 1988, also edited by Beck.
